Doug Odell’s passion for crafting great beer started in his kitchen in Seattle. After the demand for his home-brew grew, Doug—along with his wife Wynne—searched for a good location for a brewery. They moved to Fort Collins, Doug’s sister, Corkie, joined forces with them in opening the brewery in 1989.

    Rich, classy packaging. Lovely bright, deep reddish brown robe, like a well-used penny, topped with a rocky ecru head. Biscuity bread-like nose is fresh and inviting. Effervescent mouthfeel yields to a beer that is crisp, round and nicely balanced with a slightly sweet finish. Delicious with roasted rack of baby lamb coated with a Dijon glaze, potato bread and blanched vegetables dipped in a fondue of Emmenthaler and Gruyere.

    Attractively brilliant. Deep brown, transparent, inviting. Rich malt aroma is indicative of the long haul and mirrored in flavor profile. Medium full-bodied ale with clean character, yet voluptuous malt and hop complexity. Odell has worked hard on perfecting this beer over the decades and it has arrived. It isn’t fussy, but surfaces as elegant. Go figure. This is a dignified, full-flavored session beer that is approachable yet deeply satisfying. Gopher it.
