Beer of the Week

Sebago Brewing Company Fool’s Gold Ale

Posted July 21, 2011 by Greg Barbera

This beer from Sebago Brewing Company pours yellow straw with a thick, white foamy head. Fool’s Gold Ale is a steam beer, which means it was fermented with lager yeast at ale temperatures. Notes of biscuit and banana bread are joined by a sturdy malt backbone. Finishes crisp and creamy. With a 5.3 percent ABV, this California Common is unassuming and highly quaffable. A session beer for hot days. Pairs well with Greek salad, pineapple & ham pizza or buttery garlic grilled shrimp. The beer is part of their Single Batch Series and comes in 22 oz bottles.

I just visited Sebago in Portland last week. They did not have this brew on tap, but all their beers were great as we had their full sampler flight. Good to know there is one more to look out for.
