Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager

September 1, 2012
Reviewers: Charles Finkel

Silver City Brewery

Bremerton, WA

Ziggy Zoggy is an unfiltered lager that balances a crisp and elegant honey-like malt flavor with assertive, classic German hop character. Brewed in the tradition of German style Zwickelbier. “Ziggy Zoggy, Ziggy Zoggy. Oy! Oy! Oy!”

ABV: 5.0

ABW: 3.95

COLOR: 10

BITTERNESS: 33

ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 1048

AVAILABLE: WA

An original lager with a poetic name in a dinner sized bottle. There is even a poem on the label! Lovely deep golden color sets it apart from conventional fizzy yellow lagers. Super nose, all malty with a hint of fresh hops. Though a light style, it fills the mouth with delicious, mostly malty flavors, just right for summer drinking. Great with a Dungeness Crab salad and chilled gazpacho followed by fresh fruit.
- Charles Finkel
Golden glow of summer and frothy suds are merely a cover for this wonderfully balanced thirst quenching lager with an ultimately pleasing smooth and “gotcha covered” hop bitterness. I’m enjoying this on a 100 degree summer day. Perfect. If not consumed cold and quickly the wonderful flavors of German hop character emerge with added pleasure. Slight yeast haze contributes to absolute deliciousness! Bullseye!
