Conshohocken Type A IPAConshohocken, Pennsylvania Style: India Pale Ale ABV: 7%
This West-Coast-style IPA uses Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops along with pale and pilsner malts.
A simple, straightforward American IPA: fruit cocktail up front with an aroma like sweet pineapple syrup as the base. But close-up the aroma is full of fresh green onion with a touch of sweat. Some malt: pronounced bitterness which reminds me of the orange bitters used in cocktails for some reason. A pretty simple and straightforward example of the style.

Ordering an IPA these days is a lot like Russian roulette. With so many hop flavors and regional substyles emerging, it’s not always clear what you’ll get. So, when a solid citizen of the style emerges, consider yourself lucky. Harkening back to the early part of this century in its unapologetic West Coast flavor, you get sticky dank grapefruit, pine sap and a smack of papaya. Finishes slightly dry and just a little bit chewy.
