ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 1068

Brewed in: Freeport, ME

Where to Find This Beer: CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, VT, VA

Perfect pour, more like a milkshake than a beer. Moonscape head over a silky chocolate robe leaves a lace curtain as it slowly recedes. Nose is enchanting, like being in an old-fashioned candy store. Big mouthfeel is round, rich and malty, coating the palate with luscious floral, earthy and spicy flavors. Finish is clean and wholesome. It would be great with our Dungeness crab, and, I am sure, Maine lobster! We loved it with hangtown fry, an omelet made with local Kumamoto oysters; fougasse bread; and truffle hash brown potatoes.

his is a beer doing the right thing! Black with streaks of red. Earthy roast malt rolls into your aromatic sensors. Wow. An invitation you won’t resist. Vanilla notes not overstated. Cocoa-accented barley malts stand ground. You begin by sipping and savoring. By the time you’re near the end, you’re quaffing, having been taken back into a time when quaffing was an art form and the beer always quaffable. Time warps and you feel your presence in the galaxy. Mean Old Tom is your friend. You navigate back again and again. Remember that I told you so. Have this in your realm.
