Terrapin Hopsecutioner

By Rob Ulick Published January 1979, Volume , Number

Nose: grassy and resinous… Nice.

Appearance: big head, lots of lace and a beautiful deep amber color.

Taste: hoppy with a good malt backbone, truly enjoyable.

The label tells us, “Hear ye, hear ye… All hopheads shall herewithin rejoice. Terrapin hath recruited ye olde HOPSECUTIONER to execute the hop profile for this killer IPA.”

Folks, it is no lie nor braggadocio to the nth degree – I decree this IPA is a must have.

Rob – I live in Atlanta so I was very excited when Hopsecutioner was released. Unfortunately, I was pretty unimpressed with the effort from Terrapin. The quote from the label made a pretty bold promise to hopheads. I was expecting a big Stone like experience but instead I felt that I was just drinking another PA rather than a true American IPA. I probably need to buy another 6 or order it on tap somewhere to give it another shot but I wouldn’t give this one more than a C if I was rating it. I was definitely hoping for more.
