Goofy beer laws are annoying, but Utah’s laws have created a sizeable niche for beers at 4 percent ABV and under, leading the Squatters/Wasatch brewing cooperative to create a clutch of great-tasting session beers like this one. Provo Girl has pilsner deep in its DNA: fluffy white foam and bright gold body, floral noble hop aroma, a bit of bite up-front, malt-sliding to a clean bitter finish. A couple cold ones are as refreshing as a dip in Deer Creek Lake!

Towards the end of 2011, it was announced that brewer Jennifer Tally was to move from Squatters to Redhook, and one sip of this low alcohol gem will explain why it was such big news. !is is a session lager par excellence, bright gold in hue and sweetly fragrant and floral on the nose, with a crisp, just off-dry, faintly lemony and moderately bitter body culminating in a clean and dry finish. A German-inspired pilsner with helles-ish leanings, perfect for light pub fare and drawn-out evenings.
