The beer has a pale copper color with a nutty aroma and a strong chocolate note along with roasted grain and spicy hops. Chocolate dominates the palate but there are strong notes of dark, chewy and nutty malt and a growing spicy and bitter hop character. The finish is smooth, bittersweet with chocolate, rich malt and tangy hops.

As the copper-colored beer pours from the can, very little foam forms in the glass; what there is drops back quickly. Caramel, toasty malts and minty hops are foremost in the nose, along with a hint of fruit. The can says that this is “a hoppy beer without any bitterness” (!), but thankfully that’s not true. The bitterness is restrained and broad, balancing a flinty dry palate. The finish is very clean. The minerality makes the whole thing work, and the beer boasts fine drinkability. Bacon cheeseburger… yes, I know you should have the salad. But have the fries.
