Dock Street to Release Caliente Golden Ale

Posted April 11, 2012 by Win Bassett

(Philadelphia, PA) – Dock Street Brewing Co. and Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia are eager to release the second beer in “A Beer Four All Seasons” series. Caliente Golden Ale brewed with Blue Agave Nectar debuts on April 16th, 2012. Like its predecessor, Truffled Old Ale, Caliente Golden is limited and available exclusively in the Swann Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.

Rosemarie Certo, owner of Dock Street Brewery, is full of enthusiasm for the spring release. “I have been dreaming about an Agave beer for sometime. It was an obvious choice after sitting with the Four Seasons staff and learning that they were equally captivated by the notion. Projects like this are part of the joys of being a craft brewer. And who better to conspire with than the chefs at the Four Seasons?”

Caliente Golden Ale was brewed with 100 % Blue Agave Nectar. After the beer fully fermented, it made way to the bright tanks where it rested for a few weeks on Guajillo and Ancho chiles. The chiles were sourced and selected by Four Seasons chefs and create a perfect marriage for the beer Dock Street and Four Seasons had in mind. At its core, Caliente Golden is a traditional Belgian Strong Ale– subtle toasty malt profile which quickly moves into notes of tropical fruits and spices and finishes with a mild residual heat and tanginess from the chiles.

“We are excited to bring a little bit of ‘spice’ to our spring A Beer Four All Seasons,” said Executive Chef Rafael Gonzalez.  “Everyone in our kitchen enjoys cooking flavorful dishes, so we thought the Guajillo and Ancho chiles would pair perfectly with the Agave Nectar.”

Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia and Dock Street Brewing Co. will officially release the Caliente Golden Ale on Monday, April 16th in the Swann Lounge at 6pm. Executive Chef Rafael Gonzalez and his team are featuring charred shrimp ceviche with roasted pineapple, citrus and plantain chips as well as adobo marinated chicken tacos with Jicama-Serrano salad and avocado as selected food pairings.

Keep an ear out for the rest of the series including a summer beer just in time for Philly Beer Week in June and an autumn brew for late September/early October. The summer and fall beers will utilize herbs and fruits from the rooftop garden at the hotel.
