Beer of the Week

Summit Brewing Co. Silver Anniversary Ale

Posted August 12, 2011 by Greg Barbera

This beer from Summit Brewing Co. pours golden orange with an inch think head that dissipates quickly leaving some mild lacing. Dank hop notes smack you in the face leaving traces of grapefruit and apricot. A dry, bitter finish with a resinous fade that’ll coat the enamel on your teeth. Silver Anniversary Ale weighs in at 80 IBUs: It’s an “imperial” version of their flagship beer that is dry-hopped with three varietals (Citra, Centennial, Cascade). A Midwest version of a West Coast IPA?

This beer is no joke, the bitterness bites with not much malt to balance it out.Highly attenuated, crisp, and a long long bitter. It has been a great end of summer brew, Cheers to Mark Stutrud the xtra pale ale is great but this is by far one of the best beers of the year. Summit also left the price alone, which makes this not only a great beer but one of the best bargins around.
    Cheers
