All About Beer Magazine

This beer from the Vista,CA-based Green Flash Brewing Co. pours mahogany with an inch thick, creamy head and lots of lacing on the glass. Notes are of dried fruits (fig, raisin, date) as well as vanilla. Definitely a chewy mouthfeel with a big alcohol presence. This is a barleywine after all and clocks in at 10.9 percent ABV. A nice balance of citrus hops and caramel malt has the bitterness and roasted notes meshing together very nicely. Finishes off with molasses and grapefruit rind. An enjoyable winter warmer for this unseasonably frigid weather we are having here in North Carolina.
