Harpoon Brewery 100 Barrel Series Single Hop ESB

Posted May 25, 2010 by Greg Barbera

Single Hop ESB, the 31st release in the 100 Barrel Series from Harpoon Brewery, pours a crisp, clean amber with little head retention and minimal carbonation. In other words, it pours like an ESB. A hop nose brings a grassy mouthfeel off the top but the body is undeniably that of an English Ale – rich and malty. The single hop in question here is called Delta which is a new American-grown varietal developed by Hopsteiner that is a hybrid of Fuggles and Cascade. This is actually the first beer to commercially brew with Delta. Couple that fact with a label that is personally signed by brewer Charlie Cummings and I feel like I should regret tasting this beer alone. Single Hop ESB is a limited-edition beer that comes in 22 0z bottles and on draft in select locations.
