Odd Notion Fall 2010

September 7, 2010

Magic Hat is a rare brewery, an aspect that probably won’t go away with their acquisition by North American Breweries. Aside from the playfulness of their packaging and their style-bending brews, there is the Mardi Gras parade they initiate in their freezing hometown of Burlinton, VT. So, one should not be surprised that the Odd Notion for this fall (Odd Notion are their limited edition, seasonal beers) would be described by them as Wicked Wit. Man the orange rush! Pour a glass and the room is filled with an orange aroma. Slightly hazy gold, all classic wit, but with a bone dry mouthfeel stimulated by the tiny carbonation. This beer is a fruit and spice feast. The classic coriander and orange are joined by some green apple. Where most wits are subtle and delicate, this is a fun beer where all the craziness is right there in your face… How perfect for Magic Hat.
