FLIGHTS: Fargo Brewing Co. in Fargo, North Dakota

October 16, 2016

FARGO, North Dakota—Established in 2010, the city’s namesake brewery (610 N. University Drive) has an urban industrial feel with artistic graffiti on the walls, wooden spool tables and a large chain-link fence separating the drinkers from the brewing equipment. It’s a regular gathering spot for many locals looking to catch up over pints or square off in a game of foosball. A flight of four 4-ounce samples is $6.–John Holl

*Stone’s Throw
4.5% | Scottish-Style Ale

Red copper in color with pleasant aromas of caramel and toasted sugar, like the topping of a crème brûlée. It has a defined bite of toasted grain but finishes with a deep roastiness without being too heavy.

Iron Horse
5% | Pale Ale

Starts off with a refreshing pine hop smack. It’s refreshing because in an age of dank and citrus hops, the sole presence of resin is like a throw back. It’s easy-drinking, good-looking and a perfect companion to a burger.

KC’s Imperial IPA
7.9% | Imperial IPA

Burnt orange in color and syrupy sugary sweet. It harkens back to the IPAs of old, with amped-up everything. Some bitterness lingers on the finish, but totally drinkable for IPA fans of all stripes, especially when you want hops and local.

Rye-Son
6% | Saison

Refreshing, hazy and earthy sweet with just a little bit of fresh herbal garden and spice like cardamom, it finishes dry. It’s a saison ready for a roast chicken dinner.
