Creative and attractive label and name. Balanced nose is herbal and breadlike. Dense off-white head contrasts with deep cocoa robe. On the palate, the sweet malt is in harmony with bitter hops titillating the taste buds and demanding more investigation. Though a good beer, the quantity of hops is extraordinary by Scotch ale standards, making food choices limited. We enjoyed it as they would in Scotland, with a spicy Indian meal of curried lamb lollipops, smoky eggplant bharta seasoned with lime pickle, raita and roti.

A generous Scotch bonnet of creamy foam is the only thing separating you from the lusciousness below. Super dark no-see-through brew. An inviting touch of sweet-caramel malt and oh-so-subtle cornlike aroma is quite inviting. No hop aroma evident, but perfect balance of hop bitterness and malt sweetness makes for a great rendition of the style. This one is so pleasant, easy drinking and smooth, you could very well be fooled into having more than just a couple, with some interesting consequences. Great job in hitting this one right on.
