Alaskan Winter Ale

Style: Winter Ale
ABV: 6.2%
Review: Alaskan Winter Ale pours brilliant copper with a low, off-white head. The low carbonation, like an English bitter, causes the light head to quickly fade. It has a candy sweet aroma full of caramel malt and berry notes under the malt. There are some wood notes on the palate, and the spruce is very light but could be giving some chicory notes that nicely complement the malt-forward profile. There is a mild hop and warming alcohol taste on the finish, with a medium-to-light body and mouthfeel. Overall, this is a bright, warming winter ale and a nice complement to a cold evening. Throw it next to a shepherd’s pie, preferably with some venison or rich meat.
