5 Lizard

September 12, 2014
Reviewers:Charles Finkel - Charlie Papazian

5 Lizard5 Lizard

5 Rabbit Cerveceria

Bedford Park, IL

5 Lizard starts with a classic Belgian witbier brewed with malt, wheat and oats, changing it up with carefully chosen coriander and fresh lime peel instead of the traditional bitter orange. Passionfruit purée is added to the fermenters.

ABV: 4.3

ABW: 3.42

COLOR: 2.5

BITTERNESS: 20

ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 1046

AVAILABLE: FL, IL, OH

Turbid light golden color is gorgeous, topped with a full head of foam and greenish highlights, like a tropical drink. The label is beautiful and so is the beer, slightly sour and creative. Tropical and floral notes in the nose. A clean fresh mouthfeel of a wheat with the eccentricity of citrus and spice makes 5 Rabbit Witbier a natural for foods. In another hemisphere with ceviche.
- Charles Finkel
One of the most nutritional-appearing beers I’ve encountered. Dense natural yeast haze with pleasant blanket of foam. But it doesn’t stop there. Creative and wowie zowie lime and passion fruit aroma blasts shout from this beer. Super refreshing passion fruit acidity and zest of lime. Truly an extraordinarily balanced “Latin” style ale. Aristotle & Plato would have philosophized more if they were drinking 5 Lizards. Clean aftertaste. I served myself this one cold and it worked! Hasta Luego, Belgian-style Wit.
