Chad Wulff

92 Fat Dog Imperial Oatmeal Stout, Stoudt’s Brewing Co. (PA). (1/07)
Dark brown color. Sweet creamy caramel, vanilla bean and mocha aromas follow through to a supple, light fruit, medium-full body of rich chocolate, dried peach and tangerine flavors. Finishes with a rich toffeed fade. A rich flavorful stout with well-balanced, bourbon barrel character.

91 Shakespeare Stout, Rogue Ales (OR). 6% ABV (1/09)
Dark brown-black color. Rich aromas of chocolate and dark toasted grain bread follow through on a smooth, supple entry to a dryish medium body with great depth and integration. Finishes with a long dark roasted nut fade with balanced astringency. A rich, vibrant and very drinkable oatmeal stout.

90 Oatmeal Stout, Goose Island Brewing Co. (IL). 5.1% ABV (1/09)
Dark brown color with a frothy tan head. Dark raisin toast, oatmeal and cream aromas follow through on a round, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with nice lingering roasted nut and chocolate notes. Excellent oatmeal character shines through in a very drinkable frame.

89 St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, McAuslan Brewing Co. (Canada). 5% ABV (12/07)
Rich brown-black color with a light brown head. Buttery chocolate maple nut fudge, chocolate cake and grain bread aromas and flavors with a dryish medium-full body and long tangy coffee accented finish. Great balance and style; serve with cheese.

89 Oatmeal Stout, Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery (England). 5% ABV (1/09)
Dark brown color with a high fluffy taupe head. Dark chocolate and dried fruit aromas follow through on a supple fruity-yet-dry medium body with a toasty fruit cake-like character. Finishes with an off-dry dark toasted raisin bread fade.

88 Grubstake Oatmeal Stout, Etna Brewing Co. (IL). 5.23% ABV (1/07) %{Brewpub}
