Newburyport Brewing Hires Samuel Adams LongShot Winner as Brewmaster

By Win Bassett - December 12, 2012

(Newburyport, MA) – The Newburyport Brewing Company (TM) announced today the appointment of Mike Robinson as Brewmaster. Robinson brings seventeen years of amateur and professional experience to the company and has been honored with numerous awards including winning the prestigious 2009 Sam Adams Longshot Homebrew Contest, being named New England Homebrewer of the Year, winning nineteen medals in the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing Championships as well as placing first in over 100+ competitions nationwide. Robinson began his brewing career at Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth, NH where he was responsible for fermentation, centrifuging, filtering, and yeast management.

“Mike’s brewing skills and great ability to brew any style of beer is impressive,” says Chris Webb, co-founder at Newburyport Brewing Company. “His attention to detail and intuitive understanding of how to craft great tasting brews with malt/hop balance and character will enable us to offer consistently high quality beers to our consumers. Mike’s mixture of skill, art, and professional knowledge producing annual, seasonal, and specialty beers will be a tremendous asset for Newburyport and we are excited to have him join our team.”

The Newburyport Brewing Company recently announced that it has raised $1 million in private capital that is being used to expand operations and develop an 8,330 square foot facility. The company will brew quality craft beers, using premium quality natural ingredients in three products that will be available in February 2013: Newburyport Pale Ale, Plum Island Belgian White, and Green Head IPA.

“Since first brewing with Mike in the late 1990′s through New Hampshire’s oldest homebrew club, Brew Free or Die, I can say he is honestly one of the best, most creative brewers I know. His beers have deservedly won many awards over the years, and he is a stickler for sanitation, detail and precision in every part of the brewing process,” said Mitch Steele, Brewmaster at Stone Brewing Co. “I believe he will be an extremely valuable asset to the Newburyport Brewing Company.”
