Portland, OR
Style: American Pale Ale
Staff Review: What an exciting press kit. Bottle, glass, and examples of the hops, malt, water and yeast used in making the beer. Brown to amber in color, throwing a rich head, Alchemy gives off a very bright aroma that doesn’t end in piney, fruity or herbal, but has nice elements from each category. However, the malt brings a lot to the aroma with some biscuit. Usually one would expect a bigger hop aroma for this style, but this doesn’t jump out. The flavor continues the pursuit of a rich beer with some caramel on the front and a long astringent finish. This is an extremely enjoyable beer. It suggests bigness in every aspect without pushing too far. Neat trick, that. Everyone around the table is looking forward to buying some.
