Legend Brewing Co.’s Porter

By Daniel Bradford Published January 1979, Volume , Number

The clouds slowly cleared as the sun set. Next thing I know Richmond’s spectacular cityscape spread out before me. I was sitting at the perfect hat trick brewery: great beer, great food and a great view. While I waited for a homebrew club meeting to start, I had my hands wrapped around Legend Brewing Co.’s well respected and award-winning porter. On the brownish side of black, with some burgundy hues along the base of the glass, the porter has an imposing presence sitting at the bar. The aroma and flavor are classic, with a decidedly malty nose and thick molasses flavor. More of a steak than a hamburger, this is a full-bodied beer and satisfies richly. Perfect for sitting on the patio watching Richmond’s lights come on and perfect accompaniment for a rich fettucini dish.
