They say the best way to shrink a fish is with a ruler, but the best way to grow a fish is with a beer. Montana Trout Slayer promises “a bigger tale with every ale.”

A pale gold beer with a delightful floral hop aroma, balanced by tangy fruit and a hint of butterscotch. Rich malt, tart citrus fruit and hop bitterness build in the mouth, with hop resins and lemon fruit dominating a finish that still has a delicious hint of butterscotch. The lemon citrus note suggests smoked salmon rather than trout as the accompanying dish.

  • Garrett Oliver

This beer shows an attractive gold color and a restrained head that quickly recedes. The aroma is malty with a big note of creamed corn and a orangey whiff of hops. The bitterness up front is crisp and light, followed by a flavorful biscuit malt center. The finish is clean and dry. This beer’s light enough for a hot summer day, but has enough malt character to avoid those disturbing industrial beer flashbacks. It’ll be very nice with a good hot dog, or even a trout if you manage to slay one.
