Disclaimer: I am not much of a pumpkin beer enthusiast! Creative label, the headless horseman’s head replaced with a jack o’ lantern, is perfect for Halloween parties. Bright yellow with slight, quickly disappearing head. Nice nose with subtle spicy aromatics though it, too, fades quickly. Clean, well-brewed beer relies more on nutmeg and cinnamon than malt and hops for flavor and aftertaste. Served chilled on an autumn day with freshly picked, crisp apples, a wedge of cloth-wrapped New England cheddar, and a chunk of honeycomb.

Pale yellow glows through this mild brew with immense honey aroma and flavor tempered mint-like spiciness. Very low hop character. Subtle malt sweetness. It’s called “Pumpkinhead,” but one doesn’t know from the label whether there is pumpkin as an ingredient. Goes down simply and without intrigue. Well made and conversational.
