This amber ale derives its name from the container of hops through which the wort passes on its way to the fermentation tank, adding hop flavor and aroma. HopBack Amber is filtered through fresh whole flower Nugget and Mt. Hood hops.

Lovely amber color topped with fulsome, long-lasting head of off-white tinged with tan. Earthy nose is hop-forward, finishing with malt and yeast. Mouth feel is dry, hoppy and powerful, yet restrained and flavorful. Dry finish begs for another taste. Recommended with Julia Child’s recipe for beef Bourguignon, horseradish-infused garlic mashed potatoes and creamed organic spinach, finished with burnt caramel gelato with walnuts and maple syrup.

A sophisticated amber ale with complexity of hops and malt. One of the more erudite of amber ales that’s come across my lips. Crystal clear, shiny copper transparency. Refreshing, lively, yet not overdone hop aroma. Crisp bite of hop flavor and bitter complexity. Welcoming and well balanced amber ale. Worthy of your attention. Seek it.
