Shiny copper brilliance with wispy light layer of foam. Earthy, nutty and grassy aromas dominate. Sweet malty flavor emerges as primary taste memory with a slightly acidic and sweet aftertaste. Very mild hop flavors contribute if you are seeking them. Nice brew with good drinkability, no outstanding character assaults the senses. A quiet beer that doesn’t interfere with time and place. Sharp and salty cheeses would be a class act with this nut brown ale. Or just simply cool down a hot day with a few brimming glasses.
I liked the sound of this one. I liked the taste even more. The aroma is terrific — lightly floral but otherwise rich, malty and nutty, promising a good, satisfying swig of beer to follow. In the mouth, it’s smooth, mostly sweet and notably malty, reminiscent of nut cookies, with perhaps a little orange blossom to lighten things up. Roasted malt comes through a touch more in the dry, nutty, gently bitter finish. Pecan pie might be too much up the same street, but I can imagine this drinking beautifully with the caramelized fruit of a spicy, nutty apple strudel.
