NOVATO, CA—Moylan’s Brewery recently took home the gold medal for their Our Dark Secret Double Black IPA in the Out of Bounds Pale Ale category at this year’s 2013 U.S. Open Beer Championship. Breweries from around the world sent in more than 2500 beers for the only brewery competition to include professional breweries along with award-winning home-brewers. An international panel of judges from England, Canada and the United States helped select the winners who were announced last week.
Moylan’s Brewery also took home several awards at this year’s California State Fair including a silver for Moylan’s Dragoons Dry Irish Stout, a silver for Our Dark Secret Double Black IPA in the Black IPA category, and a bronze in the for the Ryan Sullivan’s Imperial Stout in the Russian Stout category. The California State Fair Craft Beer Competition includes nearly 700 entries from over 80 of the best breweries in California.
Founder Brendan Moylan was ecstatic about the recent wins, commenting, “It is always wonderful to be recognized along with some of the best breweries in the U.S. Moylan’s has a long history of award winning beers and it feels great to keep that tradition going.”
These awards began a month of milestones for Moylan’s Brewery including brewing their 50,000th barrel of beer and raising $40,000 this past weekend at their annual charity event, the Breastfest.
