Natty Greene’s to host free O.A.R. concert

Posted September 11, 2012 by Win Bassett

(Greensboro, NC) – Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. will host their 8th outdoor concert on September 22nd, Live at the Tracks at their Greensboro pub featuring O.A.R. The concert will be preceded by Race the Bar, a 5k/10k race at 3pm which starts and ends at the pub. The opening acts will be House of Fools at 5pm, and Carbon Leaf at 6:45, followed by the main act, O.A.R. at 8:30pm. No tickets are necessary for this free event, though donations will be accepted for the North Carolina Brewer’s Guild. Rock 92, 1075 KZL, and Race the Bar are proud sponsors of the entire day.

Launched in 2004 by Chris Lester and Kayne Fisher, Natty Greene’s has expanded from a brewpub in downtown Greensboro, to include a second location in Raleigh, and a production facility in Greensboro which provides beer for the entire state. As one of the fastest growing craft breweries in North Carolina, the beer can easily be found at all major grocery stores, many independents and on 700 taps across the state of North Carolina. The core beers are the Buckshot Amber Ale, Southern Pale Ale, and the Guilford Golden Ale. The brewery has more than 70 recipes in their repertoire, tantalizing the beer geeks with offerings like the upcoming release of their extremely limited Cellar Series American Sour Ale and their popular Fall seasonal, Red Nose Winter Warmer Ale.

Natty Greene’s hosted the first of this annual Live at the Tracks concert series in 2005 featuring the Violent Femmes, opened by The Avett Brothers, with 12,000 people in attendance. Through the years, many famed musicians have taken the stage like Rusted Root, Sam Bush, Drive by Truckers, and Cracker. The pub was immortalized in Greensboro-born, Chris Dautry’s music video for his hit ‘Home’, which he filmed while performing for a crowd of 24,000 at Live at the Tracks. Lester and Fisher are both huge O.A.R. fans and say that they picked the group because of their ability to put on a fantastically engaging live show

When asked why the concert series has remained free all these years, Fisher explained, “It was originally to promote the revitalization of downtown and do a huge event with the thought of introducing our brand. We wanted to attach out brand with cool, fun events. We basically made it our advertising and marketing budget. So when you come down to one of our free shows and try our beer, we hope that it will resonate into what you buy at the grocery store and what you support”. Lester encourages guests to, “Come have a blast. We’re going to raise some money for the North Carolina Brewers Guild, drink some good beer, hear some great tunes and enjoy beautiful downtown Greensboro”.
