Blackstone Brewing Introduces Picnic English-style Summer Ale

Posted June 18, 2012 by Win Bassett

(Nashville, TN) – Just in time to enjoy on summer’s hottest days, Blackstone Brewing Company®, brewer of award-winning ales since 1994, has introduced Picnic™, an English-style summer ale, to Tennessee.  Picnic™ is the latest craft beer from Blackstone, which has operated Nashville’s oldest brewpub since 1994, and opened a state-of-the art brewing and bottling facility in mid-2011.

Picnic™ is described as a lighter version of a classic Pale Ale that retains the wonderful flavors and aromas of British Pale Ale malt and hops, while using a significant portion of wheat for a lighter body and crisp finish. Picnic™ was selected by CraftBeer.com to be featured in its “Beers of Summer- Craft Beer’s Summer Seasonals”.

“Picnic™ is a great beer; it is a hot weather refresher that doesn’t sacrifice flavor or character,” said Kent Taylor, co-owner of Blackstone Brewing Co.®

Picnic™ – along with other Blackstone Brewing Co.® craft beers – is available across Tennessee, from East Tennessee to West Tennessee. In addition to Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis, it is currently being distributed in Clarksville, Tullahoma, Lewisburg, Shelbyville, Monteagle and the Tri-Cities area.

“Earlier this year, we introduced our Chaser Pale® Nut Brown Ale, St. Charles Porter® and APA in stores, restaurants and bars across the state.  The response has been tremendous,” said Taylor. “People have more discriminating palates and appreciate craft beers.”

Blackstone Brewing Company’s® 15,000 square foot brewing facility produces bottle and keg beer for distribution in bars, stores and restaurants statewide. Blackstone Restaurant & Brewery®, located at 1918 West End Avenue, was established in 1994 and is the oldest brewpub in Nashville.
