Portland,OR-based Upright Brewing will launch its new specialty peach beer, Fantasia, in bottled form on 20 January 2012. The Fantasia was originally brewed in August 2010. The beer is fermented in oak barrels that were stuffed with peaches and inoculated with wild cultures.
Fantasia is expected to cellar well for at least two years and batch two has already been brewed for next year. It is in the vein of a Lambic style of wild beer though it does not use wheat.
Bottles of Fantasia will be wax dipped and will be available in 750ml style champagne bottles at a price of $20 a piece and $225 for a case at the brewery.
Extremely limited amounts of bottles of the barrel fermented sour ale will make it out to fine bottle shops.
Upright also has plans to release its third annual Upright Oyster Stout in early February 2012. The entire batch of Oyster Stout is being bottled save for a keg earmarked for the release.
Upright Brewing produces farmhouse inspired beers rooted in France and Belgium but made with local ingredients and a Pacific Northwest twist.
