I have been experimenting with aging beer for a few years now. Sometimes it turns out great, other times it’s no different.
I had a Rodenbach Grand Cru from 2000 that was really good. Rodenbach Grand Cru is a great beer to drink fresh but with good aging it gets even better. It still had a distinct lactic flavor but the vanilla flavor was more prominent. It was overall a more complex beer with the flavors more mixed in to each other, which is usually the case with aged beer.
This is a great aging beer. I keep about 6 bottles in rotation. I replace them as I open them to ensure I always have aged Grand Cru available. This should be on every beer cellarer’s list.
