The Belgian beer style known as a single is less well known than the stronger dubbels and tripels from the abbey tradition. Singles are lower alcohol table beers, traditionally consumed at meals by monks at the Trappist monastic breweries.

Color: pale gold
Bitterness: 15

Slightly turbid yellow gold with generous head of off white. Yeasty, spicy aroma is delightful and inviting. Effervescent malty palate fills the mouth for a complexity of flavors including more spice and fruity yeast, like a big Belgian beer, but lighter, drier and easy to drink, perfect for brunch. We savored it on a lazy Sunday morning with a freshly foraged spring morel omelet served with garlic hash browns and a home baked cinnamon roll. Distinctive and creative effort to be applauded.

Eloquent creamy head brims above a golden brew, unhinging an aroma reflecting Belgian ale origins. Floral complexity, with a wisely managed hop assertion. Not too aggressive, seemingly delicate balance with thirst provoking substance. Label does not indicate ABV, but “single” implies lower alcohol, not availability. Very refreshing. This one could be a winner for those with summer thirsts or long sessions at the dinner table.
