All the traditional, familiar aromas and tastes associated with an Irish-style stout are here, happily mingling in a dark brown ale beneath a strong, mocha-colored head. While there is a light coffee-roast flavor, unsweetened chocolate in the aroma, and that subtle acidic tang and chalky dry character on the finish, all are just a bit… lacking. No one flavor dominates, and what is present consistently errs on the side of subtlety. The creamy, smooth texture made this quickly disappear, though.
