Ah, summer, when an extreme beer line’s thoughts turn to love… and sales. This is a no-nonsense summer ale, with good malty, grassy aroma, a satisfyingly solid body to support a balanced serving of bitterness and dry malt (and a framing of citrusy hops), and a bitter but juicy finish. A very well-balanced beer that’s just aching to wrap itself around a picnic, and at a very un-Heavy Seas-like 4.5 percent, you can go all afternoon.

People keep talking to me about summer beers they don’t need to think about, as if enjoying your beer was a chore. This is what I think of when I envision sunny days beer, golden and light bodied, but with enough character that there’s something to sink my metaphorical teeth into. Fresh hay and pear notes in the nose, light and drying bitterness in the body, with a crisp and just off-dry finish. You CAN have your summer beer and enjoy it, too!
