This amber-hued beer pours with a light white head that dissipates quickly. Slight fruit aromas marry with a lingering graininess. The aromas give way to sweet grainy flavors that are followed by a heavier than anticipated dose of pine and citrus hops, reminding the drinker this beer hails from the Pacific Northwest. The sweetness and bitterness duke it out for supremacy near the end of the sip, resulting in a nicely balanced beer with a surprising complexity for an amber lager. This beer is a bit more viscous than anticipated—a welcome addition that adds to the smoothness of the lager. This is a beer that would be approachable for newer full-flavored beer drinkers while still being enjoyable to the experienced craft beer imbiber.

Here's another beer that delivers the goods: a dark golden lager is that is both chunky and tasty, yet at the same time smooth and easy-drinking. Lightly nutty malt, floral hops and a squeeze of lemon set the scene in the aroma, with the taste following bittersweet and floral over thick malt that offers just a hint of caramel. The fullness and sweetness of the malt means it's just a touch sickly in places but with some spit-roasted chicken on the side that won't bother anyone. This is a sound, satisfying beer, with malty smoothness lingering in the dry, hoppy and bitter finish.
