Plank Bavarian Heller Weizenbock
May 1, 2007Available: MI, CO, MN, WI, OH, KY, NC
A hazy gold color is followed by a classic Bavarian “nose” of cloves and bananas. Rich fruit — banana and blood oranges — dominate the mouth, with powerful notes of creamy malt, cloves and a gentle hint of hops. The finish is sweet with fruit and malt but is balanced by spices and light hops that prevent any cloying. The beer is wonderfully refreshing, a fine example of the style.

Noisy head! This beer is rarin' to go, and with color to match. Definitely Bavarian. Wonderful aromatics, great taste and a flavorful, almost irresistible, palate. Strong and friendly — a definite keeper. This is a throwback to celebrate Central Europe's late nineteenth century brewing traditions.

It’s not everyday I drink a beer that reminds me of bananas. Or is it just that I am bananas? Either way, I really enjoy the combination of ripe banana, vanilla, bubble gum, and clove, with just a kiss of honey and plum. This full-flavored, yet thirst-quenching beer also has a lovely creamy texture. A beer to have with pancakes and sausage on a lazy Saturday.
