Sweet, malty and silky, but not heavy. Reminds me of butterscotch ice cream topping and pecans drizzled with caramel, along with some plum emerging on the finish. An interesting diversion, but too sweet for me to drink a lot of it.
- John Hansell
Rich and sticky sweet butterscotch is about all I can smell in this reddish-orange brew, although there may also be hints of candied orange and other fruitiness lurking beneath. On the palate, I can’t get past the cloying and toffee-like sweetness, even when I get a mild taste of the hoppiness that evidently also forms a part of this ale’s flavor profile. In the finish, some bitterness finally rises enough to take the edge off the sweetness, but not quite enough to expunge the memory of liquid candy.
