Mint Chocolate Stout

August 15, 2014
Reviewers: John Holl

Mint Chocolate StoutFlying Dog Brewery

Mint Chocolate Stout

Frederick, MD

TYPE OF BEER:  Stout

ABV: 5.7%

APPEARANCE: Dark brown, almost black with a thin white head.

AROMA: Candied mint and sweet chocolate.

MOUTHFEEL: Soda-like, medium-bodied with robust carbonation. Not as much creaminess as would be expected.

TASTE: It’s like an Andes Chocolate Mint had a baby with a York Peppermint Pattie, who grew up to marry a scoop of Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and have chocolate mint tasting offspring.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: It’s like being a kid again and getting that scoop of  mint chocolate chip ice cream from the cardboard container. I can picture that vivid pale green with black flecks in my mind with each sip. Who needs ice cream when this sweet treat is in the fridge? Not me.
