Talk about a beer that’s happy to see you! This one nearly bursts out of the can with a huge, frothy head that fills the glass. As you sip, the white foam slowly dissipates while still maintaining its meringuelike appearance atop a light golden-colored body. Clean, fresh aromas of lightly toasted grain mingle with a touch of lemon and coriander as you take the first sip. Light notes of pink peppercorns and a slight mineral edge join the dance on your palate. A light body helps this refreshing saison finish incredibly dry.
- Lisa Morrison
The beer’s feeling frisky and makes a dash for the lip of the can, soaking my pad (thankfully not iPad). The color is full gold with a slight haze, and the impressively voluminous head quickly burns itself back to a thin collar. The aromatics are pleasant—lemony, peppery, spicy and hoppy. The palate is bone-dry and bracing, with a quinine-like hop attack that shows serious staying power. A little aggressive, but something greasy will tame it. Oh look … popcorn shrimp!
