Lost Abbey Ad Idem
February 24, 2017Purchase Price: $42
Golden-straw-colored with some haze and robust carbonation that keeps a foamy white head well supplied. On the palate it’s many things at once: fruity, creamy, lactic with a bit of funk on the back end. With a mild Brettanomyces character, it’s less dry on the finish than we expected. There’s a Pez-like candy flavor that some might mind, medicinal on the finish. The peaches are prominent throughout the whole glass along with apricot and ripe tangerine. Great on a warm day, paired with an heirloom tomato and fruit salad.
This beer was part of our January 2017 issue’s featured tasting on expensive beers.
