I personally struggled with the nose of this ale, finding the aromas a bit too muddled—wild flower, subtle Middle Eastern spice. That first gulp crystallized the whole thing, however. This is not unlike Pine-Sol, but the kind you can drink and actually enjoy. It has a luscious mouthfeel and a surprising background flavor of raisin. A tongue scraper is needed by gulp No. 2. Overall, the experience is herbal, and something tells me that’s what the brewers wanted, man.

Hazy gold in color, this has an unusual aroma, not really hoppy so much as more densely herbal, like the glass holds not liquid, but pure, aromatic vegetal matter. The body follows a similar path, with strongly herbal bitterness in place of the expected citrus or pine notes, layered over a honeyish maltiness that starts prominently, fades by mid-taste to merely apparent and pretty much disappears entirely by the finish. I’m not going to say what I’d pair this ale with, but I’m pretty sure it’s not yet legal in Atlanta.
