A mountain of tan creamy foam tops this turbid, almost opaque, dark brown beauty. The nose is very subtle, if not absent. Drier than anticipated, it is clean and well made, but very light in flavor, with little of fruity yeasts associated with the style. The finish is harsh, coating the palate with a tannic, bitter taste. Dry flavors are a good platform for food pairing. Refreshing with chilled heirloom tomato gazpacho and a poached salmon salad served with pumpernickel bread.

It will be preferred by beer drinkers seeking drinkability, simplicity, clean taste, absent of the usual cast of characters in more traditionally tasting German wheat beer.
