Reviewers:Roger Protz - Garrett Oliver

Dundee Brewing Co.
Rochester, NY

Available: CT, ID, IL, MA, ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VT, WA, WI

Dundee Brewing Co. is part of High Falls Brewing Co. Founded in 1878 as the Genesee Brewing Co., High Falls is based in Rochester, NY, and is the seventh largest brewer of beer in the United States.

ABV: 6.3
ABW: 4.9
Color: golden amber
Bitterness: 60
Original gravity: N/A

Pale bronze color with a big, fluffy, barley white collar of foam followed by an entrancing aroma of freshly-baked malted loaf with powerful hints of spice and leather. Creamy malt, burnt fruit and bitter, peppery hops resins fill the mouth. There’s a big, underlying hop bitterness in the finish but the hops are overlain by juicy malt and tart fruit. This is the stuff of which empires are built.
- Roger Protz
The beer pours a honey-orange color and stands a low, white foam. The nose is pleasant if muted; bready malts underpin a high, bright, citrusy hop note. Though the bottle says “bold and bitter,” the beer is actually quite mild, showing focused hops against a full-bodied off-dry malt center. It finishes crisply. Not really a beer for hop heads, this is not so much an India pale ale as a perfectly nice American pale ale. It will be just the thing with a big bacon cheeseburger. And fries.
- Garrett Oliver
