Flights: Dialogue Brewing in Albuquerque, New Mexico

November 1, 2017

Dialogue Brewing (1501 1st St. NW) opened its doors in Albuquerque’s Wells Park neighborhood in September of 2016. Its unique blend of industrial minimalism and earthy architectural accents creates a bizarre space that is starkly alien and yet surprisingly welcoming. Outside, six towering rebar sculptures provide seating and support surrealistic metal fronds high above the intimate patio. Under the 1920s warehouse’s bowstring roof, fermenters divide the production area from the taproom. Although the space holds modern conveniences like USB ports, light projection menus and a Crowler sealing machine, televisions have been conspicuously omitted in hopes people will engage in a dialogue of their own. Ten of the 13 beers on tap rotate seasonally, and a flight of five is $8.–Efraín Villa

*Belgian Citrus IPA
7.2% | Belgian-Style Citrus IPA

Real lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit provide a citrus punch to the nose, while fruit rinds kick in smooth bitterness that harkens back to the days before nuclear hoppiness peeled the enamel off one’s teeth.

Berliner Weisse
4.3% | Berliner-Style Weisse

Tart and refreshing with lemon notes and medium carbonation, this honey-colored patio pounder is perfect for the high-desert summer of the Southwest.

Biere de Mars
6.7% | Bière de Garde

A mouthful of malt sweetness up front yields to hints of clove and vanilla and ends with a dry, spicy aftertaste.

Sour Raspberry
6.6% | Experimental Sour Ale

The most popular of the beers on tap, this vermilion sour’s sharp acidity and berry tang induce instant nostalgia
for sipping Capri Sun pouches on the playground.

Cordial
4.2% | Contemporary Gose

Tart red cherries infuse this contemporary gose with its crimson color, while chocolate malt subdues the acidity and salinity of the initial sip.
