The beer is quite dark, but shows a nice ruby color when held to the light. The carbonation is soft and the tan head is thin. The aroma is full of cocoa powder and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. It’s medium-bodied and brisk on the palate, with roast showing well, combining with light hopping to balance dark fruit and caramel. While I can’t taste the oatmeal and I think this is more porter than stout, it’s tasty stuff. It would be excellent with chicken enchiladas mole.

Tremendous beer: rich chocolate, roasted grain and burnt fruit on the aroma; dry, bitter chocolate and dark fruit dominate the palate with a powerful sour mash note and light hop resins. Hops are more to the fore in the deep finish, with growing sourness and bitterness, dark chocolate and roasted grain. A big, satisfying beer.
