Christmas Ale

December 22, 2014

Breckenridge Christmas AleChristmas Ale

Breckenridge Brewery

Denver

Type of Beer: American strong ale

ABV: 7.4%

On the lighter side of brown, with a thin white head and relatively low carbonation, we liked this for its sweet orange-like aroma with brown sugar. Earthy hops came though in the flavor with a sweet caramel malt finish and a taste not unlike a bready rustic roll. Nothing about the beer itself screams Christmas, but there is a festive wreath on the label to help keep up appearances. Plus, it also comes in mini-keg format for when those unexpected relatives show up.

This beer was reviewed by John Holl, Dustan Lilas, Lee Movic and Kelsey Roth on Dec. 5, 2014, at the Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont, MA. Photography by Peter Johnstone. Read more reviews from the tasting.

I tried a bottle of this for the first time today. Excellent! I am going back to buy a stock for the holidays. Well done.
