Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout
November 27, 2014Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout
Goose Island Beer Co.
Chicago
ABV: 13.4%
At first there are no surprises with this beer. The vanilla bourbon flavor is prominent, backed up by chocolate, and a strong dark roast coffee that is not-at-all acidic. It’s solid. It delivers what it says it will, and then something interesting happens: a blueberry flavor appears. Don’t think of fresh off-the-vine fruit, but rather warm blueberry pie. This ale actually takes on flavors of big sugar granules and flaky pie crust. Clearly, this is the dessert beer we’ve been waiting for.
