Long Trail’s new summer seasonal is modeled after original Belgian witbiers, spiced with coriander and orange.

Bitterness: 14

Unfortunate moniker. It is unfair to call a beer made here “Belgian,” even if it is of a traditional Belgian style, a fact indicated only in tiny letters on this label. Hazy gold with a tint of chartreuse, topped with an off-white head, a lemony nose masks the malty flavor, which is light for this genre. There is a pleasant bubbly mouthfeel and clean finish. Refreshing on a summer day, perhaps garnished with sliced fresh apricots or peaches.

Wheat haze infused. Remarkably attractive head. Assertive and exciting aroma of coriander and lemongrass-like luster. Wow. Aromatic preamble is well done. Lemony fruitiness with minimal acidity. Subtle and balanced hop bite that enhances the thirst quenching aspects of this Belgian-style wit experience. Flavor mirrors aroma and is quite memorable. Nicely balanced and worthy of “classic” designation. I love the coriander statement. This beer would go wonderfully with spicy and aromatic Asian curries. Here’s my money.
