(Press Release)
FORT COLLINS, CO—Trellis Garden Ale raised more than vines this March for local community botanic garden, the Gardens on Spring Creek, 2145 Centre Avenue. As a wrap to a collaborative brewing project between Odell Brewing and The Gardens, the local brewery presented a check for $17,856 to the Friends of the Gardens on Spring Creek, the Gardens’ non-profit fundraising and advocacy group. One dollar from each bottle sold of Trellis Garden Ale raised the proceeds.
Released on June 21, 2014, Trellis Garden Ale was a crisp, double pale ale brewed with coriander, cilantro, pineapple mint, lavender and rose petals harvested from The Gardens and was distributed and sold in Odells’ entire distribution network of 11 states.
The Friends of the Gardens on Spring Creek will use this donation to build its Endowment Fund with the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado (CFNC). Awarded a challenge grant by the CFNC in fall 2014, this grant will match $1 for every $3 dollars raised towards the non-profit’s Endowment Fund, up to $25,000. After Odell’s contribution, the Friends have raised $47,856 of its $75,000 goal.
“This donation really pushes us close to reaching the full amount of the Challenge Grant,” said Randy Morgan, Friends President. “Our Endowment Fund will help the Friends build up a fund to take up to 5% each year to support operations of The Gardens, helping with long-term sustainability of the organization.”
“We have long partnered with the Gardens on Spring Creek, so seeing this project come to reality was a delight, but to then see it exceed our expectations…we were thrilled,” Odell Brewing’s community outreach coordinator, Karla Baise said.
The Friends of The Gardens is working hard to raise the remaining $27,000 to meet the June 15, 2015 CFNC Challenge Grant deadline. To contribute or to learn more, please visit www.fcgov.com/gardens. The Gardens on Spring Creek is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
