“A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth” the beer’s label proclaims. It’s certainly no wimpy merry-go-round here. We’re talking rollercoaster: One of those big old creaky wooden ones that jerks you around. By the end of the ride, your taste buds are exhausted from the hop bitterness, citrus rind, orange marmalade and honey-drenched caramel. Still, you run to get in line again, wanting more. Now if only I could get a season pass…
Beautiful pour. Creamy candy atop burnished gold. Luscious lace sticks to the glass, exciting the senses. The nose is a tour de force—humulus heaven-sent. On the palate, the hops complement a generous malt character only slightly balanced toward herbaceous bitterness. The aftertaste is quite strong and long lingering, mitigated only by more beer, or food, like blue cheese, salty pretzels, nuts and Rainier cherries.
