BEER SEMINARS

Beer of the Buckeye State
Go behind the scenes of Ohio beer on this lively panel discussion lead by All About Beer Magazine editor John Holl. The panel will be comprised of a variety of head brewers and owners from very diverse backgrounds. Lean about brewpubs, production breweries and trailblazers and how they have build their companies to put beer in your glass.

  • John Haggerty, Brewmaster, Warped Wing Brewing Co.
  • Karl Spiesman, Co-Owner and Brewer, Brick and Barrel
  • Reed Jaskula, Asst. Brewer, Platform Beer Co.

Learning by Drinking: Finding Your Next Favorite Beer
Found a beer (or three) that you love–but still thirsty for more? Join All About Beer Magazine’s beer editor Ken Weaver for a tasting across the wide world of beer through its key ingredients. Find how traditional styles work, where to look for more beers like the ones you’re currently digging, and what brand-new hop varieties and so-not-traditional ingredients mean for what you’ll be drinking next.

BEER SAMPLES

Meet Luke Purcell, head brewer at Great Lakes Brewing Co., and try one of the brewery’s creations. They will be serving the following beers available all day at the Great Lakes Brewing Co. pouring station (#30):

  • Burning River Pale Ale
  • Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
  • Dortmunder Gold
  • Commodore Perry IPA
  • Lawn Seat Kolsch
  • Aloha Ale
  • Honey Ale
  • Sharpshooter Session Wheat IPA
  • Barrel Aged Blackout Stout (VIP lounge only)

FROM WATER TO BEER

Great Lakes Brewing Co. has been artfully crafting ales and lagers for more than 25 years. You now have an opportunity to learn how those four little ingredients come together to make that delicious drink in your glass. Sample Sharpshooter Session Wheat IPA while you learn how the raw ingredients are translated into the final product. Does that acidulated malt yield a tart flavor? Can the tropical smell of Jarilo hops taste that way in this IPA? How about all those different yeast strains? Watch active fermentations and learn how yeast affects the smell and flavor of beer. Get all of these questions answered and become more informed about the art of developing a beer from scratch.

MARRIAGE OF FOOD AND BEER

Learn about the joys of pairing food and beer. Chefs Rock Finley and Richard Basich from Great Lakes Brewing will pair beer with dishes created using locally-grown produce from the brewery’s Sustainable Farming Initiative. Join them boothside (booth #30) at 1:30 p.m. to try Burning River Pale Ale paired with sausage sliders and at 3:30 p.m. to try Eliot Ness Amber Lager paired with mushroom bruschetta and fried leeks. VIP ticket holders can also sample Barrel Aged Blackout Stout paired with Great Lakes’ famous bread pudding, served from noon-3 p.m.

CASK ALE
